The Paramount Chief of Abease Traditional Area in the Bono East Region of Ghana, who doubles as vice President of Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Obrempong Kru Takyi II,  has urged all chiefs to be mindful of their conducts.

Obrempong Kru Takyi II, said chiefs are role models and as such should conduct themselves in a mannerly way in public to set a good example for the future generation.

Obrempong Kru Takyi 11 made this assertion during an interaction with the media about the state of affairs that confronted the institution at his Palace in Abease

The experience Chief, stated that Chieftaincy institution is one of the oldest and unique institutions in human life and must be accorded with the deepest of respect the institution deserves. However, Obrempong kru Takyi II, disclosed that ‘respect goes with some responsibilities and we the chiefs must first execute those responsibility in order to demand the needed respect from our people.”

He drew attention to the disrespect towards some chiefs in the country by some section of the  youth and again .Nana cautioned  Chiefs to refrain from engaging in active politics as he said “these things pave way for the youth and some people to disrespect the Chieftaincy institution.”

“It brings division among the people, stop declaring your supports publicly to a particular party or candidate because when chiefs do that, they  send a signal to their people and the people will know that their chief belongs party B or party A.”

Obrempong Kru Takyi II,  continue to remind chiefs that even though everyone has the right to vote if she or he attains eighteen years and above. He said “the referees in our elections, I mean the Electoral Commission have their own party because they vote but they do so in private

“Chiefs should also stay away from partisan politics to avoid division, chaos and disrespect among their people and also to protect their neutrality and respect.”

He assured that, he will do all that he can do to maintain peace and order in his traditional area in order to forester development.

He concluded by saying “after all, politics is a dirty game and why should our respected chiefs play such a game”.
