Gospel Musician, Sonnie Badu has reacted to a video of the President of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku charging the Black Stars players to give their best for Ghanaian people ahead of Sudan game.
According to him, the GFA President is frustrated and his statement has deflated the players.
Okraku urged the players not to be selfish but to work hard for Ghanaians to be happy.
“Must we be selfish? The answer is no. We must not be selfish. We must see ourselves belonging to a privileged group who God has given us a chance to impact to make people happy. I, Kurt wants to be remembered as honest to Football country and that is what I demand of you to be honest to Ghana.” Kurt Okraku said.
His statement has generated a lot of reactions from Ghanaians.
Reacting to this, Sonnie Badu stated that football is a psychological game, and this could damage the boys rather than provide the intended motivation.
“With all due respect, I think Kurt’s outburst rather deflated the boys. Yes, I understand he is frustrated and wanted the nation to see that he is in control. However, football is a psychological game, and this could damage the boys rather than provide the intended motivation.” He posted.
The renowned gospel musician indicated that Ghana needed a successful former player like Dede Ayew to motivate the players rather than the GFA president’s outburst.
“This is why Dede Ayew is still needed; he does well in motivating the boys, or a successful ex-player could be helpful. If I were Kurt, all I would say is, ‘Hey guys, Kwesi APPIAH is an ex-player and ex-coach, and so a game like this has a lot of mixed emotions.” He added.
“Don’t let him leave here as the winner.’ By the way, the boys are good, but they are not bonded together. I suggest we get the Langabels and Ojoo back to help these boys settle and unite. The Jama sessions were a great form of bonding. Who leads it now, now that Dede and Ofori are not there?” Sonnie Badu quizzed.
