Kumasi public toilet operators increase fees by 25%

In order to meet the economic hardship in providing good services, the Kumasi Sanitation Awareness Association in the Ashanti Region has announced that charges for public toilets and urinal facilities in the Kumasi metropolis have been increased by 25 percent.

According to them, the increse of charges have become neccesary due to the current hike in the prices of goods and services.

They announced that the cost of using toilet rolls has now been increased from GHS 1.50 to GHS 2 while the cost of using toilet paper has also been raised from GHS 1.30 to GHS 1.50.

“We are not intended to impose hardship on our customers, we feel for them but looking at the situation and the rise of the prices of goods and services, we have no other choice than to increase our prices. We feel for them but they must understand our situation. Currently, the cost of dislodging the facilities has increased from GHS 800 to GHS 1,200, maintenance, electricity, and water bills have also gone up. Everybody is suffering.” Chairman of the Association, Mr. Owusu Takyi spoke to Class 91.3 FM’s Elisha Adarkwah.

The Chairman appealed to the public to understand and comply with the new charges in order to deliver a good service to them.

“One of our aims is to improve service delivery, and we can not achieve it when our spending overweight our income. There must be a balance of equations so that we can also do the needful so we are appealing to the people to comply with the new prices for the benefits of all of us.” Mr. Takyi appealed.

Ghanaians in recent times are complaining bitterly over high increment of goods and services.

They are saying life has become unbearable and unemployment has been a major challenge which is affecting the development of the country.
