Professor Rita Akosua Dickson has been re-appointed by the governing board of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as Vice Chancellor.

The renewal of Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson appointment came after the Council of the University approved the recommendations of the committee set up by the Council to evaluate the application for renewal of her appointment of the Vice-Chancellor for a second term of two (2) years.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Registrar, A. K Boateng.

“It is announced for the information of members of staff, students, the entire University community and the general public that the Council of the University at its 282nd (Regular) Meeting held on Thursday 20 June, 2024, approved the recommendations of the committee set up by the Council to evaluate the application for renewal of appointment of the Vice-Chancellor for a second term of two (2) years,” the June 20 release read.

According to the governing board of KNUST, the  renewed appointment of Rita Akosua Dickson as Vice-Chancellor of the university takes effect from 1st  August, 2024 to 31st July, 2026.

“Consequently, Council has renewed the appointment of Prof (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson as Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, for another term of two (2) years, effective 1st  August, 2024 to 31st July, 2026,” Part of the statement read.

Profile

Prof (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1994 and acquired an MPharm at the same university in pharmacognosy in 1999.

The woman acquired her Ph.D. in pharmacology from King’s College London in 2007.

She started her career as a lecturer at the KNUST in the year 2000 and was promoted to senior lecturer in 2009.

Prof Rita Akosua Dickson was first appointed as first female Vice Chancellor of the university effective 1 August 2020.
