The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya constituency in the Ashanti region, Hon. Sarah Adwoah Sarfo has said the Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has rendered an apology to her for over allegations leveled against her.
In 2022, the former flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) among other things alleged that Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare gave me GHC120k to deposit in Adwoa Safo’s account.
Adwoa Sarfo was also demanding the removal of Alexander Afenyo-Markin as deputy Majority Leader in Parliament before she could come to Ghana and vote for the passage of the controversial e-levy.
Responding to these allegations in an interview with Onua FM monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, Adwoa Sarfo described it as false propaganda.
“All these are not true, and he has rendered an apology to me. if you like to come to Parliament and interview him it is not true. Some of the stories are hearsay, and some people react to issues before the truth is revealed. People said a lot and the Chief of Staff is my mother and she knows how I respect her because of the relationship between her and my father. My mother can not come and is stuck at my gate.” She said,
The MP explained that “There was an election at Parliament and I was not feeling well after I gave birth so I spoke Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Majority Leader and he told me that he would come and take me with his personal car and motorcade, ao I told my security personnel that this particular person would come here so when the he come open him. But Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu later spoke to my mother (Chief of Staff) and she told him to stop she would go there herself”
She continued “So when Chief of Staff came to my gate, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu called me again and said his people couldn’t come so Maa (Chief of Staff) is at your gate but I think the security is not aware so I quickly called them to open the gate. That is what transpired and my God up there knows what I am saying” Adwoa Sarfo explained.
“And the money they are talking about, you can check Fidelity Bank is where my Parliamentary salary pass, and Parliament we don’t pay in dollars so I don’t have dollar account with fidelity Bank so there was no such transaction and like I said Akosua Frema Osei Opare is my mother so if there is anything like that she would have come home” She added.
These are the allegations by Kennedy Agyapong against Adwoa Sarfo.
“The Chief of Staff, after buying the ticket and flying her in, had to take a motorcade to Adwoa’s house. She stood behind her gate for 30 minutes, what kind of rudeness is that? Before she opened, the Chief of Staff was made to sit in her living room for 35 minutes. Going back she was demanding another private jet, excuse me, Adwoa now is saying that before she comes, Ghanaians should listen, Kennedy Agyapong I am not a mad man to go and talk.” He said.
“Adwoa’s condition is that we have to remove Alexander Afenyo Markin as a Deputy Majority Leader, announce that Alexander Afenyo Markin has been removed then she will take a plane and come here. Another demand is that if you don’t give me what I want you are not going to get the E-levy passed and if you don’t pass the e-levy, you will go to the IMF.” Ken Agyapong indicated.
“Me I don’t like people like that honestly, I have vowed not to insult like I will blast her today. Adwoa Safo, Chief of Staff called me, I went there and [she] said this is what she is saying, I swear [on] my mother’s grave, Chief of Staff gave me GHC120,000 to deposit in Adwoa Safo’s Fidelity bank account. Please, Amoako Baah what do you know? I put the money there in her fidelity bank account, and ask her PA if what I am saying is not true. Now we are in opposition, the way Adwoa is treating the party clearly shows that we are in opposition.” He alleged.
