The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) constituency, John Dumelo has reported Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan to the Special Prosecutor after the Member of Parliament was seen in a video allegedly sharing food for voters.
In a video that has since gone viral, the sitting MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) constituency and her followers were given a white bag to voters who were in a queue to cast their votes during the Special Voting on December 2, 2024.
John Dumelo who is not happy about the development in a complaint of electoral malpractice against the MP said “At about 1pm, while the special voting was going on, I saw MS. LYDIA SEYRAM ALHASSAN and a handful of her supporters holding several white plastic bags with contents which were not readily known. Later, I saw her hand several of the plastic bags to several of the men and women who were in the queue to cast their ballots. Particularly, she handed the bag to each of the men and women and whispered into their ears. I later found that some of the bags contained food and other goods, which I believe were intended to influence the voters to cast their ballots in her favour.”

COMPLAINT OF ELECTORAL MALPRACTICE AGAINST MS. LYDIA SEYRAM ALHASSA (HO. MP)
I wish to make a formal complaint against MS. LYDIA SEYRAM ALHASSA, the Honourable Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) constituency.
I am the polling agent for MR JOHN DUMELO, the National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate for the AWW constituency. Because of my duties, I was stationed at the Legon District Police Station where the special voting for the AWW constituency was taking place on December 2, 2024.
At about 1pm, while the special voting was going on, I saw MS.
I later found that some of the bags contained food and other goods, which I believe were intended to influence the voters to cast their ballots in her favour.
I have several video recordings of the conducts of MS LYDIA SEYRAM ALHASSAN and her followers handing the plastic bags to the voters. I have attached them to this complaint.
I count on you to bring MS. LYDIA SEYRAM ALHASSAN and her followers to book.
Thank you.
