The Chief of Jema and Kyidomhene of the Nkoranza Traditional area of Bono East Region, Nana Amponsah Gyan II, has emphatically urged electorate in his area of jurisdiction and the Country as a whole to prioritize peace, unity, and development comes December 7th general election.
Nana Amponsah Gyan II, made this assertion during the celebrations of this year’s Nkyifie (Yam) Festival which was under the theme, “Peace, Unity, and Development.” He said it is only appropriate for him to preach peace and unity to the gathering since it is inline with the theme for the Nkyifie Festival and as a leader, it is his responsibility to ensure that peace and harmony in the country is preserved as the country gears towards elections.
“The theme of the festival is Peace ,Unity, and Development and I want to use this platform to urge my people and the country as a whole to vote for Peace and development. Reject any party whose activities or conduct results to insults or threatened the peace that we are enjoying in the county.” He said.
According to the Kyidomhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Area, politics of insults should not be tolerated and any politician who engages in any form of campaign that threatens Ghana’s democracy should be dealt with.
Nana also urged citizens especially the youth to respect the rules and regulations that governs the elections process to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections.
“There are laws governing the voting and if these regulations are adhered to, l believe the elections will be violence free and we will all get the peaceful elections that we want.”
“To the Electoral Commission, transparency is indeed a key to peace, the EC should do all it can to maintain at the peace in the country to move the nation forward.” He said.
