Former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West and financier of Nsoatreman FC, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has been granted bail by the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B. The court set his bail at GH₵500,000.00 with two sureties.
The Sunyani District Court, presided over by His Worship Moses Daning, made significant rulings in a case involving three individuals in the killing of the Asante Kotoko football club supporter, Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
The former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, was granted bail alongside Joseph Kyereme while a third suspect, Agyemang Duah Owusu, has been remanded in police custody.
Ignatius Baffour Awuah and Joseph Kyereme are expected to appear before the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Baffour Awuah is facing serious charges of abetment to commit crime, specifically murder, under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29). Presiding judge Eric Daning has also determined that Baffour Awuah should submit his passport to the registry of the court until further directed for the first 14 days from today (4th February). The Nsoatreaman F.C. president is also not allowed to travel out of the Sunyani Municipality unless with the approval of the court and must report to the police everyday for the first fourteen days.
Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Joseph Kyerme and Agyeman Duah Owusu were arrested on Monday, in connection with the violent disturbances that erupted during the league match between Nsoatreman F.C. and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre in the Bono Region.
A press release by the Ghana Police Service, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police and Director of Public Affairs, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, revealed that two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the room of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu.
