The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has once again raised concern over injustice melted against Ayawaso West Wuogon victim Isshau Yaro.
According to the former president, President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed to recognize the need for justice and compassion he deserves but the next NDC government will ensure that he receives the compensation he deserves to allow him invest in a better future for himself and his family.
“Many of us remember the tragic events of the Ayawaso by-election, in which Isshau Yaro was a victim. He was shot, resulting in a lasting injury to his leg, which has impacted his ability to work and play the sport he loves— football.”
“I want to assure my brother that I stand with him in seeking justice. When the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the election, we will ensure that he receives the compensation he deserves, allowing him to invest in a better future for himself and his family.” Mahama promised.
He said it is sad that the NPP government has failed to hold those responsible accountable and provide the recommended compensation in the commission of inquiry established to investigate the Ayawaso West Wuogon incident report appropriately.
“In the aftermath of the Ayawaso West Wuogon incident, a commission of inquiry was established, which made recommendations for prosecutions and compensation for the victims. Regrettably, this government has failed to hold those responsible accountable and provide the recommended compensation appropriately.” Mr. Mahama indicated.
The NDC leader expressed optimism that justice will serve in the future for all the victims affected in the tragedy to receive the compensation they are owed.
“I am grateful for your unwavering support and hopeful for a future where justice is served and my brother and others affected by this tragedy receive the compensation they are owed.” He stated.
