The Director-General in charge of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NTVET), and Founder of theNetwork of Women in Growth, Madam Mawusi Nudekor Awity,has embarked on a familiarization tour at the various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the Bono East Region
Addressing the media, Madam Mawusi, said the familiarization tour was to ascertain at first hand some of the challenges the TVET schools in Bono East are experiencing and how best to solve those challenges.
“We need to familiarize ourselves with the schools, the challenges they have and to encourage the students, it’s important to know the state of affairs, so far I have visited four of the schools and I’m really highly impressed with the commitment, some of them have volunteered to teach in the schools.” She stated
According to her, the interest of the TVET service is to see many people progressing in the field of technical skills as she hopes to see young graduates setting up their own businesses in the near future.
” This year, we are hoping to appeal to the communities, opinion leaders and everyone who matters that everybody should be involved for the growth of TVET, in the near future, I will Like to see a lot more of our graduate setting up their own businesses and they use as mentors or they availing themselves as mentors and the state will be involved in supporting the graduates of these TVET schools with startup kits.” She explained
Madam Mawusi also indicated that she was highly impressed by the conduct of commitments of tutors and the traditional leader’s involvement to see the quality of the TVET, and assured that the institution has taken enough precautionary steps to ensure the sanctity and integrity of the service to uphold.
“We have traditional leaders, community members and opinion leaders who are now involved in the TVET to see to it that we have quality TVET.” Madam Mawusi explained.
In her speech at the gathering of students at the Nkoranza Technical Institute (NTI) auditorium, Madam Mawusi stated, “You are the movers and shakers of this country’s future economy, and know that everything around us is TVET, what we’re wearing, and even eating; TVET has to do with taking the raw materials and then add value to them and making them available for patronage, I therefore advice you to engage deeply in the TVET service seriously”.
