Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng has explained the reason behind his decision to walk out from the Studio of 3FM.

According to him, he exited the Studio during discussion was in response to the unprofessional conduct of the Journalist.

“Walking out of the studio was a principled response to the unprofessional heckling I faced in the hands of a biased & prejudiced journalist.” He said in a statement.

“Productive dialogue is impossible when a host consistently dismisses facts and context I provide while relying solely on allegations made by others. It is particularly troubling when every point I make is framed as a defense rather than a contribution to the discussion.” Part of the statement read.

Kwasi Kwarteng walked out of the Studio of 3FM during an interview with Johnnie Hughes on the alleged expired rice distributed to SHSs.

Below is the full statement

Statement Regarding My Exit from 3FM Studio Discussion

1. As the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, I participate in interviews as a representative of the institution I serve, not in my personal capacity. It is therefore important that such engagements are conducted with respect for the office I represent and the facts I present.

2. Productive dialogue is impossible when a host consistently dismisses facts and context I provide while relying solely on allegations made by others. It is particularly troubling when every point I make is framed as a defense rather than a contribution to the discussion.

3. And so if I am not afforded the courtesy and opportunity to present my case fairly, the purpose of the interview is defeated & in have no option left than to walk out.

4. The media’s role is to educate, inform, and foster meaningful discourse. However, when it is weaponized to push personal & partisan interests as what was demonstrated by Mr Hughes, then the purpose of responsible journalism & open engagement is defeated.

5. Inviting a guest only to exploit an issue which had already been clarified by FDA, while casting doubt on my responses is not journalism but partisan cross-examination!

6. Walking out of the studio was a principled response to the unprofessional heckling I faced in the hands of a biased & prejudiced journalist.

7. And I will not hesitate to do the same if faced with similar behavior in the future. The media must uphold its responsibility to inform and engage constructively, not manipulate public perception for partisan gains.

Kwasi Kwarteng Esq.
