Despite several attempts to calm Broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah down on the fight against illegal mining popularly known as galamsey, the outspoken journalist has stated that he respects his employer but his duty is to the public.

According to him, he can take any advice from the Chief Executive Officer of the Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kweku Oteng but galamsey menace is a national crisis that needs attention.

“I respect Kwaku Oteng today, tomorrow and forever. He can be my father aside from the work I am doing. When he advised me I listened because I personally told him to direct my ways when I am going wrong. But my question is that if a thug attacks a school and starts to kill the students, should I say they can attack Kwaku Oteng so I should not talk about it?” Okatakyie Afrifa said on his show.

Dr. Kweku Oteng earlier said many people are complaining about Okatakyie Afrifa’s outburst especially on galamsey.

But the Journalist re-affirm his commitment to expose politicians and individuals who are involved in galamsey activities.

“The same thing happens to our water bodies that have been destroyed, it breaks my heart that is why I have not listened to that. This is not a matter of disrespect. I respect him a lot but for the sake of the public I can’t keep quiet. I will not keep silent when I see that something is going wrong. Galamsey can kill more people than a gun.”

He described Journalists who are silent on politicians involved in illegal activities as timid.

“So far as I am concerned, no politician can attack you. A lot of journalists are timid, that is why politicians are harassing them. Henceforth, any politician who will try to attack Kwaku Oteng and his businesses will be exposed.” He vowed.
