Veteran Gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong has reacted to the widespread news on social media regarding his marital issue.
According to him, they have been divorced for almost 20 years now.
The wife of sick Yaw Sarpong who had been identified as Adwoa Penamang in an interview of Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM claimed that the family of her husband have prevented her from attending to her husband who is currently receiving treatment and prayer intervention at Sokoban Ampayoo.
The angry woman added that the siblings of Yaw Sarpong claim their brother has divorced her.
“All the siblings of my husband don’t like me except Dada Poku so I was astonished about the development. So I thought they would sit down with me to settle our differences but it didn’t happen like that, what they were telling me was that they have divorced me. But the Asante tradition is not like that. So I don’t understand why things are like that. They said the Bishop says nobody should come here.” She said.
Reacting to this during at New Jerusalem Chapel where he is receiving the prayer intervention, Yaw Sarpog stated that he divorced his wife almost 20 years ago so he is shocked the woman is spreading this news.
According to the gospel musician, he doesn’t even remember some of the allegations the woman is making on the radio station.
He explained that he didn’t pay a customary drink (ti-nsa) to the Penamang family.
“It is about 20 years now. Actually, I didn’t pay for the customary drink, the “ti-nsa” (head wine) so when they (family) saw our movement, they told me to buy Bible and jewelry (patia). We were united but a time came when she started to misbehave and she finally left me and the children in Accra and packed her belongings and came to Kumasi. So I went to her father and told him what his daughter has done.”
Yaw Sarpong also denied that he is having an extra-marital affair with Tiwaa.
“Tiwaa is the woman behind my success, a lot of people know her so it is not true that she has snatched me from my wife.” He indicated.
