Musician, Okyeame Kwame has said he rejected offer to be the running mate to the Leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kyeremateng.
He said even though he met the criteria Movement for Change has outlined to chooses a Vice Presidential candidate but couldn’t accept the offer.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy entertainment show, Okyeame Kwame stated that going into partisan politics without fully preparation can jeopardize his family.
The legend indicated that he first has to ensure that his family is well prepared in terms of security and others.
“About three months ago, he reached out and I was in Kumasi for an event and then he reached out and said I should see him when I come back to Accra. So I went and see him, and he outlined 10 criteria of a person he want to be his vice. They wanted an educated person, the wanted someone who has done well in development. Like I have done work in policies development, climate change, health and other.”
“They wanted someone who has more influence on social media, they wanted someone who has been in the music industry for 26 years, married and other factors. I thought they were really serious but I couldn’t do it because my children are teenagers, my son is fifteen (15) and my daughter is thirteen (13). So if I am going into partisan politics, I need to have prepared them for a year.”
“I had to look at other things like security, false propaganda and other attacks, Had I prepare my family well enough to deal with that? Completely no. And because of that I didn’t want to put my family in jeopardy plus our plans. We have short, medium and long plans.”
