The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has defended Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia amidst arrogance tag.
According to the Asante Monarch, he didn’t raise Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO to be arrogant and disrespectful so he is surprised people are saying that.
Addressing the gathering during presentation ceremony at Manhyia, Asantehene stated that he doesn’t agree to that so Napo should prove his critics wrong.
Otumfuo urged the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia to train Napo and report to him if Napo commits in discharging his duties.
“I have heard many people saying my son is arrogant and disrespectful but I didn’t raise you like that so what has changed now? I can defend you on that but don’t let it come to pass. We will pray for God’s intervention so that His will shall come to pass. Dr. Bawumia, I have given hin (NAPO) into your hands, direct him but if there is any mistake let me know and advise him.” Asantehene stated.
He also advisd Napo to be summissive and obidient to Dr. Bawumia so that he will not regret choosing him and his flagbearer.
“I have advised my son secretly, but let me tell you, don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret nominating you. Go and be a good servant and obey his command, I am saying what I have already told you in public. Humble yourself and be a good servant for me. Be obidient and do whatever he (Bawumia) will ask you to do. ” He added.
Asantehene’s comment comes after the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been tagged as arrogant and disrespectful following his nomination as the running mate to the NPP ahead of the 2024 general election.
