Ghanaian Journalist and Entrepreneur who attempted the Guinness World Record of longest singing marathon by an individual, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has revealed that she is currently at the St. Michael’s Hospital in Accra for medical check up.
Report says Afua ended her Sing – A – Thon under health advice by her medical team.
According to the head of the medical team, Dr Grace Buckman, the team advised her to end the marathon following genuine health concerns.
“There’s only a point you can go as a person. She has done so well and we are extremely proud of her. We have gotten to a point that as a medical team, her health is very important. At the moment, we want her to rest so she will bounce back to us,” The Doctor said.
Speaking on UTV entertainment programme dubbed, United Showbiz on Saturday, 30th December 2023, Afua stated that she is comfortable at the hospital.
Adding that her Doctors are working assiduously to ensure that she recovers from all the effects she incurred.
“For now they are just trying to ensure that I get rest to recover from all effects I incurrred as a result of the 126 hours, 52 minutes long singing” Afua Asantewaa stated.
Confirming that she is at the hospital the brave lady indicated ” Yes I am at the hospital but a very comfortable one”
Afua Asantewaa Aduonum ended her journey with 126 hours, 52 minutes.
The current Guinness World Record holder, Sunil Waghmare recorded 105 hours.
According to Guinness World Record, Sunil Waghmare (India) in Nagpur, India, record started from March 3-7 2012 and the singing marathon lasted for 105 hours.
Meanwhile, Afua Asantewaa has expressed her appreciation to Ghanaians for the massive support.
While awaiting to be confirmed by Guinness World Record, Afua on her X post proudly said she has broken the record and set a new one.
She thanked Ghanaians for their love, dedication, motivation and prayers which, according to her, gave her strength throughout this journey.
“THIS IS WHERE I END MY JOURNEY! 126 HOURS, 52MINS. WE BROKE A RECORD AND SET A NEW ONE. IT WAS YOUR LOVE, DEDICATION, MOTIVATION AND PRAYERS THAT GAVE ME THE STRENGTH TO GET ON MY FEET EVERYTIME AND KEEP GOING FOR THIS LONG. IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU! THANK YOU” She wrote.
