A Political Marketing Strategy, Prof. Kobby Mensah has questioned the records in which the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will base on to convince the voters and the NPP leaders to accept his choice of running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
He said when President Nana Addo proposed Dr. Bawumia as his running mate, many stakeholders in the party and the voters rejected his offer but Nana Addo was able to sell his running mate who is Economist on the grounds that he would help the economy.
According to the lecturer, the most important thing Dr. Bawumia should focus on is how to persuade voters and the NPP faithfuls who have rejected Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his choice of running mate.
“The problem for the Sales man is not rejection but their counter to the rejection – how persuasive is your counter? When Nana chose Bawumia and was rejected, what was Nana Addo’s counter that made his offer persuasive to the leadership of the NPP? “He will help us with the economy.” What is Bawumia’s now, of Napo when the other stakeholders and Voters pose the rejection question?” Prof. Kobby Mensah wrote on his X.
His comment follows the dissatisfaction from some leading NPP members and voters that the Manhyia South Member of Parliament as a running mate to Dr. Bawumia.
The vice president and the flagbearer of the NPP presented the Minister of Energy Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to president Nana Addo as his choice of running mate for the 2024 general elections.
The news of Dr. Bawumia’s running mate proposal has met with several criticisms as people accused Napo as arrogant and disrespectful following his comment on power crisis (dumsor).
Many people including Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North, Mr Appiah-Kubi believe Napo is a wrong choice to be the running mate to Dr. Bawumia since he has not performed well as Energy Minister.
