The office of the Member of Parliament for Techiman South Constituency and the Municipal Assembly, have presented a twelve seater water closet toilet facility to the Techiman Municipal Assembly.
The new facility was built and presented to the boys dormitory was founded by the GetFund under the emergency project.
Present at the occasion, was the Member of Parliament for Techiman South Constituency, Hon. Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Techiman South Municipality, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, Staff from the Techiman Municipal Assembly, some executives of the Techiman South New Patriotic Party, Headteacher and staff of the Techiman Senior High and a section of the student body.
Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, said the Assembly and the the office of the MP, built the 12 seater toilet for the school in response to a request from the headteacher of the school concerning the poor nature of the then place for convenience for the boys a situation that he said, ” the students got infections whenever they visit the toilet facility”.
“They made an appeal for a new toilet facility and the MP promised to put measures in place for a new toilet facility. He got this project through GetFund under emergency”
He disclosed.
He revealed that, aside from the twelve seater toilet facility for the boys, the Municipal Assembly has commenced the construction of a twenty-seater toilet facility which will serve as a place of convenience for the ladies.
Hon. Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, speaking with reporters says “this project was an emergency and that is the reason we expedite its process, because it was a matter of life and death as the students were contracting infectious rashes as a result of using the old toilet facility”.
In order not to experience another health related issue, such as the infectious disease, Hon. Martin charged the students and the school authorities, to ensure they use a high standard hygienic standard to operate the new facility.
The MP, assured all the schools within his area of jurisdiction, that his office and that of the Municipal Chief Executive, have not turned deaf ears to their numerous requests as adequate measures have been put in place to address all those challenges.
On behalf of the school, the Headteacher, Gabriel Ofosu Mensah, thanked Hon. Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah and Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko for their swift intervention in providing the boys dormitory with a new 12 seater water closet toilet facility.
He promised that, ” good maintenance culture will be observed”.
