A lot of history, legends and mysteries circle around this site. It is a traditionally earmarked tourist attraction center in the Ashanti region.
“It is a historical landmark on the grounds of the Asokore Mampong old Palace right here, where Otumfuo takes his sacred bathing during Odwira festival” disclosed by the caretaker of the Nyame Kese Rod site Nana Addae Mununkum who serves as Asokore Mampong Twafuohene. According to Nana Addae Mununkum the Nyame Kese Rod was planted by Okomfo Anokye himself over three hundred ( 300) years ago during the reign of the founder of the Asante Kingdom Otumfuo Osei Tutu I.
Asokore Mampong Twafuohene Nana Addae Mununkum further revealed to Elvisanokyenews.com that in the olden days the all libations and rituals concerning the sacred spiritual bathing were performed by the Otumfuo himself until some years later where he appointed some elders to take care of that traditional aspect. And it has remained so till date.
He disclosed that the elders of Twafuo group were handed to the Asokore Mamponghene by the Otumfuo for him to take care of they the Twafuo group so they can play their role well in performance of the sacred bathing of the Otumfuo after the Odwira festival.
Twafuohene Nana Addae Mununkum therefore entreated the public not to hesitate to visit the Nyame Kese Rod Site located at Asokore Mampong.
