Government appointees should travel in premium economy instead of business class to reduce costs. – Nana Aba Anamoah

Ghanaian Media Personality, Nana Aba Anamoah has suggested the Government appointees should travel with Premium Economy with the government really wants to cast cost.

She believes President Mahama’s directive that government appointees should not travel with first-class is not enough to cast cost because business class is also costly.

“I have seen all the interviews on Government appointees can’t travel in first-class…..The truth of the matter is that it is only the Emirate that offers first-class services in Ghana. British Airways does not do first-class, they do Business, Premium Economy and Economy. What I think is a great idea to deter our appointees from using first-class, I think that we have to be sincere that most people at that level travel with Business class so that is what they have been doing, they are not cutting costs.” She said on United Showbiz monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com.

“So the appointees should rather use Premium Economy because we are cutting costs, not Business class.” Nana Aba stated.

Her comment comes after President John Dramani Mahama banned first-class travel by the government appointees.

Speaking during the swearing-in of ministers at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, President Mahama said “The resources that you will be working with belong to the Ghanaian people who put us in office. Those resources must not be wasted on extravagance or luxury. I have asked the Chief of Staff to write to all government appointees, that I have posted a ban on non-essential travel to cut down expenditure.”

“Any travel that is deemed essential and necessary must be cleared first with the Office of the Chief of Staff and such travels will have to be taken in modesty, no first class.” The President stated.
