The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has criticised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government again.

According to him, Ghana has become a bankrupt and collapsed economy due to the poor leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led NPP government for almost eight years.

The former president said the country is currently standing at a critical and troubling crossroad which should not have happened like this.

“Today, we stand at a critical and troubling crossroads. Our beloved country has become a bankrupt and collapsed economy due to the poor leadership of almost eight years.” Mr. Mahama wrote on his X.

He maintained that the current government has Ghanaians in every sector of the economy.

Mr. Mahama who lamented over the leadership’s refusal to take responsibility for the current economic hardship in the country described the NPP government as the most reckless management of our economy in known history.

“This leadership has failed Ghanaians and yet refuses to accept or even take responsibility for the most reckless management of our economy in known history.” He added.

According to the former president, the poor economic management by the NPP government  in the past eight years has  pushed more than eight hundred thousand (800,000) Ghanaians below the poverty line.

“This has plunged our nation into an unprecedented economic crisis and pushed more than eight hundred thousand (800,000) Ghanaians below the poverty line.” He said.

Many Ghanaians are complaining about the recent economic hardship.

As a result of this, a lot of the citizens have traveled to find better jobs to support their families.

John Dramani Mahama who is seeking another opportunity of political power to lead the country has promised to rebuild the country to bring back the trust and confidence Ghanaians had before.

He said this is the time Ghanaians should vote massively for the NDC to take power again and “build the Ghana we want”.

Meanwhile, the ruling government has defended the economic situation.

They said if the NDC were in power, looking at the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine war, the economy would have been worse by now.

According to them, there is no government who has done better than what the NPP has done.

But Ghanaians will decide on who is speaking the truth as the country is gearing up to hold a crucial general election on December 7.
