The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has emphasized the need for Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power in the December 7 genral elections.
Chairman Wotumi said Ghana is changing faster than Europe looking at the policies initiated by the NPP government and the vision of the flagbearer of the party Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, he has stayed in Europe for some years but now the way Ghana is moving everything shows that the country is changing so Ghanaians should give Dr. Bawumia a chance to lead the country as the president to implement his policies.
“The policies put in place by our flagbearer have not happened before in the world, our country Ghana, as I have already said I have lived in Europe before and now living in Ghana, I can see clearly that Ghana is changing faster than Europe. Ghana is changing, your country, my country, our country is changing faster.” Chairman Wotumi said this at a UK Town Hall meeting.
Chairman Wontumi stated that the problem Ghana is facing now is about the 8 year term for a political party in power.
He said before Ghana can develop one political party should be in power for a long time, so Ghanaians should allow the NPP to continue ruling the country.
“The only problem is that from 1992 to now, this 4th Republic, it has been NPP, NDC, so after 8 terms the other one wants to take over, Ghana will never develop unless we keep one political party in power for long before we can have the big transformation to develop our country. ” Wontumi added.
Many people including former president John Agyekum Kufuor have raised concerns over the 8 year term for political parties.
They believe sharing power every 8 years is the reason Ghana has delayed transformation.
