President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has urged Ghanaians to ignore National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama because he cannot repair the free SHS policy.

He said, someone who has opposed the implementation of free SHS policy cannot be trusted and voted for as a president.

” Have any of you experienced dumsor in my term of office? At first he (Mahama) said, he will cancel the Free SHS policy but today he said, he will repair the Free SHS policy because he has realized that Ghanaians don’t agree with him. Can this leader be trusted?…. can this leader…. Today you said 2024 NDC will win the election, unless NPP falls asleep”  President Akufo-Addo said this in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.

A flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to repair Akufo-Addo’s problematic Free SHS policy and the National Health Insurance Scheme if he is re-elected the President in the 2024 elections.

He said reviewing the two policies will ameliorate the plight of Ghanaians and enhance the policies.

According to Mr Mahama, the challenges associated with the implementation of the Free SHS have negatively affected the quality of education in various senior high schools, hence the need to review the policy.

Speaking at a campaign tour in Kongo in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, John Mahama, pledged to end the challenges of the free SHS and the NHIS.

But Nana Addo said Mr. Mahama and the NDC don’t have any new ideas to transform the country as the governing NPP is doing.’

The implementation of the Free SHS policy is part of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign promise prior to the 2020 general elections.

Many students were enrolled to Senior High Schools since the implementation of the Free SHS, however, the policy met challenges which resulted to the introduction of double track system.
