The yams, a staple food in the region, are essential for the community’s sustenance and well-being. “I have performed the needed rites in Fiaso, it is a custom for us to perform this rite annually before we can harvest and sell yam from Fiaso to other communities within the country.

“So I can now say that all traders are now welcome to our market, Fiaso is the hub of yam in the entire country and the yam trade is our major source of income in this community so we will entreat all and sundry to come to our market and purchase their affordable yams.” She said.

She used the opportunity to appeal to the Techiman Municipal Assembly to come to their and help build a school and befitting toilet facility for the community.

“We pay taxes to the Techiman South Municipal Assembly but we lack a lot of developmental projects in the community, so I will like to use this opportunity to plead with the Municipal Assembly to come to our aid, we need additional school facilities in our community because the current school have about 80 learners in a single classroom and that is too much so we plead with the assembly to build additional schools for us as a well as a befitting toilet facility in our community.” Nana Marriama Owusuaa appealed.

Some yam farmers and sellers said “we will like to thank  our traditional leaders for performing the needed rites to officially allow us to sell our yams, Fiaso is the official deport of yam in Ghana and now that we are allowed to sell our yams, I believe the prices of yam will reduce.

“If you want to buy in large quantities or in small quantities, we will serve you and the prices is very low, so everybody should come and buy our yams.
