Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex 1996, have touched down in Cameroon ahead of their CAF Champions League preliminary round game.

The Samreboi based team, won last season’s Ghana Premier League with 61 points and they will be facing Victoria United FC on Sunday, August 18, 2024 as part of their median CAF Champions League campaign.

The team traveled to Cameroon to prepare for the highly anticipated match, which will be played at the 50,000-capacity all-seater multi-purpose Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon. FC Samartex is eager to showcase their skills and compete against Victoria United FC in the CAF Champions League, one of the most prestigious club competitions in African football.

The CAF Champions League preliminary round is a crucial stage in the competition, and FC Samartex is determined to make a strong impression. Management of the team are aware that the match against Victoria United FC will be challenging, but they are confident in their ability to overcome any obstacles and progress to the next stage of the competition.

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku, has already thrown his support behind the team when he visited their training session last Tuesday.

The GFA Capo, expressed his confidence in the team while urging them to follow the footsteps of Medeama SC and Dreams FC. Medeama SC, during last season’s CAF Champions League campaign reached the group stage and Dreams FC, made it to the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup. last season was the first time both Medeama SC and Dreams FC appeared in the CAF competitions,
