The Chief Executive Officer of Atwima Mponua Rural Bank PLC, Mr. Edward Kwarteng, has reaffirmed the critical role farmers play in national development, stressing that they deserve stronger support and recognition for their continuous contribution to Ghana’s growth. He made the remarks when he presented agricultural inputs to selected assemblies ahead of the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr. Kwarteng noted that farmers remain the backbone of the economy, providing food, jobs and raw materials for key industries. He emphasized that rewarding and motivating them is essential to sustaining the nation’s agricultural progress.
Atwima Mponua Rural Bank PLC donated items including wheelbarrows, refrigerators, Wellington boots, cutlasses and other farm tools to six Municipal and District Assemblies. The beneficiary assemblies were Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, Ahafo Ano South West District, Suame Municipal, Kwadaso Municipal, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal and Atwima Nwabiagya North District.
According to Mr. Kwarteng, the gesture forms part of the bank’s long-standing commitment to supporting farmers, adding that they have consistently contributed to Farmers’ Day activities over the years. He stated in his remarks that investing in farmers is investing in the nation’s future, and urged both public and private institutions to continually champion the welfare of the farming community.
Some of the beneficiary assembly leaders, who spoke after the presentation, expressed appreciation to the bank for the timely support. They described the donation as highly relevant to this year’s celebration, noting that the items will go a long way in motivating deserving farmers and encouraging productivity across their jurisdictions.
They commended Atwima Mponua Rural Bank PLC for its sustained dedication to agricultural development and called for more partnerships that strengthen local farming systems.
