EZone Network GH in collaboration with the Ghana Education service have organized a pre-test for some selected private and public basic schools within the Bono East region.
The pre-test, is to ascertain the preparedness of the BECE candidates while equipping them with the technicalities needed for writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination
The examination, which was under the supervision of Ghana Education Service officials, saw some 64 learners participating in the pre-test as 32 selected schools within the Bono East region presented 2 candidates each.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ezone Network GH, Oheneba Nana Agyei Amanimpong, said the motive of organizing these tests is to encourage the learners to work hard in their academics, and give them confidence in their academic career.
“We are doing this to prepare the learners towards the BECE and also encourage those in JHS 2 to learn. The reason we have partnered with GES for this program is that we want to do something to help the educational sector, we will award some of the students that took part in this pre-test examination, we also have awards for the teachers and we believe that will motivate other students to also learn hard and it will also encourage the teachers to also do their best in discharging their duties.” He said.
Nana Agyei added that Ezone Network Gh will organize a dinner and awards night a day after the BECE to discourage the students from attending night parties and other unnecessary engagement while given the opportunity to meet some prominent people in Techiman.
According to him, representatives from the Techiman Traditional Council, clergy, philanthropists, and politicians will deliver speeches during the dinner and awards night.
“Aside from these exams, we also have a dinner session but the dinner will come on a day after they have finished with the BECE which is the 13th of July, all form 3 students in Techiman that will set for the BECE will be invited for the dinner. We will have a seminar during the dinner to prepare them for life after JHS.
“Some prominent members of our society like our Members of Parliament, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah and Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the MCE for Techiman South and DCE for Techiman North, chiefs of Bouyem, Kenten, Hansua and other communities in Techiman, the Education Director including many others will all be present for the dinner. So we want to create an avenue for these students to meet these people and learn something from them.” He said
He added that, EZone Network GH, for the past 7 years have been operating in three regions i.e. Greater Accra, Central Region and Bono East Region and they are into events and awards organizations.
Some Teachers of the selected schools, thanked EZone Network GH for the initiative, saying “this Pre-test is a very good initiative, so we brought our students to participate in the maths and science test, we have realized that most of the students fail BECE due to fear and tension during the BECE, so we are grateful to Ezone Network GH for organizing this pre-test examination because it will help the students to learn how to sit for the BECE without any fear or tension.
“This is a good thing, so we will urge them to do it every year to help the students in JHS 2 and 1, we will be much grateful if other NGOs emulate what Ezone has done because it is a very good initiative.”
Some of the students that sat for the pre-test examination expressed their profound gratitude to EZone Network GH for giving them the opportunity to have a glimpse of how the BECE will be like and appealed to them to make the pre-test an annual event.
