EPL: Manchester City struggles against Big Six

The reigning champions of the English Premier League, Manchester city have won only two out of the eight games played so far this season against the “Big Six” teams in the league.

Pep Guardiola’s side has managed 7 points out of possible 24 in these eight games, with Chelsea being the only “Big Six” club they have managed to beat.

The Sky Blues have lost both games against Liverpool this season in the league with both games ending 2:0 in favor of the Reds. They managed a 2:2 draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Campus Stadium  but suffered a 5:1 humiliation at the Emirates in the return encounter.

Against their city rivals Manchester United, Joško Gvardiol’s 36th minute opener wasn’t enough as goals from Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes and Amad Diallo gave Manchester United the bragging rights. over Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s team suffered another humiliating defeat at the Etihad, but this time to Tottenham Hotspurs, as Angelos Postecoglou’s men trounced them 4-0.

Chelsea are the only “Big Six” team that Manchester City has beaten, both at the Etihad and at Stamford Bridge.

The Sky Blues recorded their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. City proved too strong for Enzo Maresca’s side in the return fixture at the Etihad, winning 3-1.
