Chelsea head coach, Enzo Maresca, has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September. The nomination comes after Chelsea’s impressive performance in the month, where the team won three and drew one out of their four games.
Under Maresca’s leadership, Chelsea has shown great form and consistency, defeating teams like Bournemouth, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion. The only draw in September came against Crystal Palace, where the game ended 1-1.
Maresca is one of five managers nominated for the award, alongside Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery, Marco Silva of Fulham and Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot.
Arsenal under Mikel Arteta went unbeaten through September despite having to contend with tricky fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Unai Emery Etxegoien, led Aston Villa to unbeaten run in September after picking seven points out of possible nine points in the month of September and he is up for the prize.
Fulham’sMarco Alexandre Saraiva da Silva was another manager who enjoyed an unbeaten month after he oversaw a draw with West Ham and wins against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool manager, Arend Martijn “Arne” Slot, is the only only nominee who saw his team lose in September, with the Reds falling to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
However, with his team sitting top of the table, it is unsurprising to see Slot nominated after his Liverpool side recorded three wins in four games last month.
The winner will be decided by supporters’ votes combined with those of a panel of football experts.
Maresca’s ability to motivate and inspire his players has been key to Chelsea’s success. He has implemented a new training regime and tactical approach that has helped the team to play at a higher level and will be looking forward to win his first individual accolade as Chelsea’s coach.
