The management of gospel musician Empress Gifty has provided reasons for her absence and clarified that she could not show up on Nana Ama McBrown’s Onua Showtime on October 13, 2024 due to emergency situation not because of any malice as it has been speculated.
The publicist for Empress Gifty, Edem Tsotorme explained that she received an emergency call that her daughter fell ill in Akosombo the same day after performing at a Thanksgiving ceremony for Despite’s mother-in-law.
He said the two Empresses are on very good terms. Empress Gifty’s absence from Onua Showtime was not due to any feud with McBrown.
“Empress Gifty and Empress Nana Ama McBrown are very good friends. They do not have issues like the way people are speculating in the public. Empress did not show up on the show, not because of any malice. She performed at Despite’s mother-in-law’s Thanksgiving ceremony and just after the performance she received a call that her daughter had fallen ill in Akosombo.” He said in an interview on Hitz FM,
“She didn’t even sit after the performance, she rushed to the car and left for the Eastern Region to go and see the situation. As a parent you can not receive a call that your daughter is sick at school and still go about your normal duties. So she went, and they even had to transfer the child to Tema. In the process she even lost her phone and many people who were trying to reach her couldn’t get through. So this is why the Empress couldn’t show up” He explained.
According to him, he called McBrown’s production team to inform them about the situation so that they would not be surprised.
“As of 5:58 pm, I called McBrown’s production team to inform them about the situation. Because I didn’t want it to be a surprise as soon as the information came I informed them. We were even hoping that the situation could come down for her to make it but she couldn’t so myself and one of the team members who normally back her to sing went to McBrown’s show.
