Former Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has refuted age controversy, daring anyone with a proof of him using a “football age” to prove him wrong.

According to the former Asante Kotoko, he has only one age and that is listed on all his official documents.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, known for his contributions to both the national team and clubs such as Udinese, has responded to the persistent speculation with a direct challenge to anyone claiming he is older than his official records.

In a recent interview, Badu made it clear that the age listed on his official documents is the only one he acknowledges and challenges anyone with an alternative age to prove him wrong.

“I don’t have a football age because I’m using the details on all my documents. If you’re any other age, you can bring it out and prove me wrong.” He said

The issue of age in football, particularly in Africa, has often been a subject of controversy, but Badu’s bold response has silenced many critics. The midfielder, who enjoyed a successful international career with the Black Stars and a long stint in Italy’s Serie A, emphasized that he has always been transparent about his personal details and has nothing to hide.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, who is currently 33 years, started his playing career at Berekum Arsenal in 2007 before moving to Kumasi based Asante Kotoko in the 2008 – 2009 season. He later joined Recreativo on loan in 2009, then joined Italian side Udinese where he spent 10 years, from 2010 to 2020.

Agyemang-Badu has stints with Bursaspor, Hellas Verona, Qingdao and later returned to Ghana to end his football career with Accra Great Olympic in the 2022-2023 football season.

Badu’s challenge now puts the ball in the court of those questioning his age, urging them to provide evidence if they can.
