Pollster Benjamin Emmanuel Ephson populary Ben Ephson has predicted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the general elections should they be able to secure 32% votes in Ashanti and 42% in Eastern Region.
According to him, the results from the Ashanti Region are very crucial and it will determine the position of the two main political parties in Ghana.
“If you look at the results of elections, the NPP will need to maximise their votes in Ashanti Region, there is no doubt, Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern but if the NDC get 32% votes in Ashanti and 42% in Eastern Region, they will win the lections. Ashanti is so crucial.” Ben Ephson said this in an interview with Joy news monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com.
He believes the NPP has much concern in the votes in Ashanti region and that it will not be surprised if the flagbearer of the party Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia will pick his running mate from the Ashanti region.
“Even before the team Bawumia and so forth, I knew Bawumia will have to pick his running mate from Ashanti, and not just any pick. I think that from the work they did, all these names that you mentioned there are about six names who were tipped and my understanding is that the simple question they asked was if Bawumia wins the flagbearership race who should he pick as the running mate and they asked all the names in all the constituencies of the six” He sated.
The pollster added that the campaign team for Dr. Bawumia are experienced people who have run campaigns for many years so the choice of running mate can make a difference.
The Managing Editor of Daily Dispatch said among other names that were tipped to be named as the running mate for Dr. Bawumia in the Ashanti region, the Member of the Parliament for Manhyia South constituency and the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO is the best choice to give Dr. Bawumia and the NPP maximum votes they need from the Ashanti region.
“The Bawumia team have quite a bit of experienced people who have run campaigns before and so forth so I am not too surprised at the choice that the team said they will make. You see, when you come to NDC I will tell you one of the major problems the NDC will face and has been facing and has not fixed. So picking Opoku Prempeh I will not be too surprised at all” Ben Ephson added.
