The African Electoral Institute has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) for their interventions to address concerns over discrepancies in polling unit result sheets during the Edo State Governorship Election held on 21st September, 2024.

According to them, the decision by INEC to address the complaints of incorrect figures demonstrates its commitment to transparency and fairness.

“The African Electoral Institute is pleased that INEC is leaving no stone unturned to investigate and rectify any irregularities, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and fairness.”

“The African Electoral Institute also applauds the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) demand for *the arrest and prosecution of a presiding officer accused of allocating non-existent votes* to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a civil and procedural act and did not resort to violence.”

*AFRICAN ELECTORAL INSTITUTE LAUDS THE  INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION OF NIGERIA  (INEC) FOR THE PROMPT ACTION ON ELECTORAL IRREGULARITIES IN EDO STATE  HELD ON 21ST SEPTEMBER 2024*

The African Electoral Institute applauds the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) for promptly addressing concerns over discrepancies in polling unit result sheets during the Edo State Governorship Election when INEC received complaints of incorrect figures from only two (2) out of four thousand, five hundred and nineteen (4,519) polling units used in Saturday’s election and has swiftly taken action.

The African Electoral Institute is pleased that INEC is leaving no stone unturned to investigate and rectify any irregularities, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and fairness.

The African Electoral Institute also applauds the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) demand for *the arrest and prosecution of a presiding officer accused of allocating non-existent votes* to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a civil and procedural act and did not resort to violence.

The African Electoral Institute underscores this action as highlights  of transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral process in Edo State Governorship Election.
