A Non-governmental organization EcoCare Ghana in collaboration with their partners has organized a two-days stakeholder’s engagement with some industry players in Techiman to interpret some by-laws.
The engagement seeks to create awareness on the Techiman SouthMunicipal Assembly’s by-laws for state actors and traditional authorities.
The by-laws were inducted by the assembly in 2022 to protect natural resources within the municipality.
Attending the stakeholders meeting were some representatives of the Techiman Traditional Council led by the Hansuahene and Bamuhene of the Techiman Traditional Council, Heads of Departments at the Techiman South Municipal Assembly, the Director and some staff of the Environmental Protection Agency, forestry commission, a section of the media including many others.
The Project Officer for Ecocare, Mr. Enock Danso Okyere, has a series of projects to support farmers to preserve their lands and natural resources.
He said “the current project that we have done with the Techiman South Municipal Assembly is under the LandScape and Environmental Activity Across the Nation (LEAN) and it is to interpret the assembly’s by-laws of all relevant stakeholders.”
“We want the public to be aware of these By-laws and also educate them on the benefits the community will get when it is implemented especially in the fight against global warming and climate change.
Hansuahene who is also the Bamuhene of Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour II, lauded Ecocare and its partners for organizing the stakeholders engagement.
He said “this program has come at the right time because it will go a long way in protecting our water bodies, especially the Tano river.”
He urged all and sundry to come on board to support Nananom to protect River Tano since it is the pride of Techiman.
EcoCare Ghana is an organization that gets their funding from the European Union to educate farmers, people who are into agriculture and there are series of programs that they organize for farmers to teach some good methods of farming.
