A young man whose name was identified as Stephen Kwaku Oteng has moved from home into the forest after investing his uncle’s GHS 3,000 in bets on Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Aviator last Saturday, which ultimately failed.
The incident happened at Anum in the Eastern Region.
According to him, his plan was to win just GHS 200 and return the GHS 3,000 to her. However, when he first staked GHS 20, he lost. In an attempt to recover his losses, he ended up losing the entire GHS 3,000.
Speaking in an interview with Crime Check Foundation monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, Kwaku Oteng stated that he has been living off people’s farms since Saturday and is still in the bush out of fear that his uncle will harm him.
“My uncle gives me everything I need and takes care of me in school so I don’t really know what came over me. I am in the forest because I am afraid of my uncle because of what I did. What happened was that there is a woman who does mobile money for my uncle, so on Saturday morning, I asked the woman to send me GHS 3,000 to do something and I will return the money back to her. My plan was that I could win GHS 200 and give her GHS 3,000 but it didn’t work for me.”
“When I got the money I deposited it in my bet account. First I staked GHS 20 but failed so in an attempt to recover my losses, I ended up spending all the money. I spent some on football betting and others on aviator during Arsenal, Bayern Munich matches.”
According to the young man, he is eating from some people’s farms in the forest.
“Because of that I haven’t eaten since Saturday, I just pluck some maize from some farms in the forest and roast to eat. ” He said.
