The Dwenem-Awasu Traditional Council in the Jaman South Municipality has celebrated the 35th anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Okropagyan Bofobene IV, Paramount Chief of the Traditional Council.
The grand occasion brought together several prominent traditional leaders from across the Bono and Bono East regions, including the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, the Paramount Chiefs of Sunyani, Nsuatre, Japekrom, and Drobo, as well as representatives from the Atebubu and Suma-Ahenkro Traditional Councils, among others.
In his address, Nana Bofobene IV expressed profound gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Dwenem Traditional Area, as well as his fellow traditional rulers, for their support and presence at the anniversary celebration. Reflecting on his 35 years of leadership, the Paramount Chief recounted the numerous challenges he faced during his reign, including periods of opposition and attempts to undermine his authority.
He, however, gave thanks to God for guiding him through those difficult moments and sustaining the peace and unity within his traditional area.

Speaking in an interview with the media at his palace, Nana Bofobene highlighted that peace and unity are essential foundations for development, emphasizing that his community has witnessed significant progress, including the construction of a modern palace under his leadership.
The Paramount Chief also appealed to the Government of Ghana to complete the Berekum–Drobo–Dwenem–Sampa road, noting that its poor condition continues to affect socio-economic activities and daily movement within the area. He further urged parents and guardians to prioritize the education of their children, stressing that education is key to community advancement.
Nana Bofobene IV also called on his people to respect the laws of the land and live in harmony. Addressing the youth, he advised them to avoid social vices and lead responsible lives that would make them productive citizens contributing to national development.
On her part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, Hon. Siata Watala, congratulated Nana Bofobene IV for his remarkable leadership and continued efforts in promoting peace and unity within the Dwenem-Awasu Traditional Area.
She praised the Paramount Chief’s experience and contributions, noting that his long years of service as a traditional leader and former Vice President of the Bono/Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs are assets that must be tapped to foster national development.

Hon. Watala further assured the gathering that the NDC government, under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, remains committed to restoring the nation’s development agenda. She announced plans for the reconstruction of the Berekum–Drobo–Dwenem–Sampa road, a statement that was met with loud applause from the crowd.
