The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia onSaturday, 6th July, 2024 joined former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan to launch the All-Regional Games 2024 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.
According to Dr. Bawumia, this championship, organized by @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and spanning several sporting disciplines, marks a significant milestone in our collective effort to revive grassroots sports across all 16 regions of our nation.
“I joined Ghana legend Asamoah ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan to launch the All-Regional Games 2024 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi this evening.” Dr. Bawumia said.
Highlighting the benefits of sports in the country, Dr. Bawumia stated that they have always been a unifying force, transcending barriers and bringing people together.
He called on Ghanaians to support the All-Regional Games and all similar initiatives that aim to uplift our youth and promote national pride.
“Sports have always been a unifying force, transcending barriers and bringing people together. Together, we can harness the power of sports to build a stronger, more united Ghana. Let us support the All-Regional Games and all similar initiatives that aim to uplift our youth and promote national pride.” Dr. Bawumia emphasized.
Asamoah Gyan has lamented young talented football players who end up on the street and lose their careers due to lack of support and motivation, hence the All-Regional Games initiative.
“There a lot of football players who wanted this support anywhere and they end up doing different thing, ending up on the street, we are trying to take people from the street, we are trying to educate them, is not necessary about football itself, we are working with football but we want to also educate them and make sure they get to where they want to get to in football” Baby jet said
