Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has reacted to a concession speech by the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia has won many hearts despite defeat to former President John Dramani Mahama.
He said Dr. Bawumia’s intention to concede defeat to calm nerves and curb the rising tension and his appreciation to everyone including the media show maturity and good leadership.
“Even before the EC announced the presidential results of the first constituency, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat to calm nerves and curb the rising tension. He appreciated everyone, including the media, for their role in the election. He has won many hearts despite the defeat.” Manasseh Azure posted.
The investigative Journalist expressed optimism that the decision by Bawumia to concede defeat before the Electoral Commission declaration may help the NPP in the future.
“Thank you, sir, for this show of maturity and leadership. With this posturing, sanity may return to the NPP soon.” Part of the post stated.
In his concession speech, Dr. Mahamudu stated that Ghana is more important than anybody’s personal interest and that he is ready to give his brother, John Dramani Mahama the necessary support in his second coming as the President of Ghana.
He admitted that the NPP data from our own internal coalition of the election results indicates that Mr. Mahama has won the election even though the EC is yet to make a public declaration.
“Let me say that the data from our own internal coalition of the election results indicates that former President, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama has won the Presidential election decisively.” Dr. Bawumia said.
