The Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations for Brong Ahafo Presbytery for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. John Amankwaa-Okrah,, has advised the populace especially the youth not to do anything that will jeopardize the peace and stability of country before, during, and after the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Rev. John Amankwaa-Okrah, said violence has no place in the electoral process and that there is still much life to live after the elections.

“I will urge the youth to always remember that there is life after elections, so there is no need for us to fight each other because of elections, we should put it at the back of our heads that we are one people, we are all Ghanaians.” He said

He further explained that, the elections is just an avenue for electorates to choose a presidential candidate they believe has the capabilities to develop the country and therefore does not call for violence of any form.

The Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations for Brong Ahafo Presbytery for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, admonished the youth from selling their vote to their highest bidder or being influenced by some politicians to engage in any activity that can lead to violence. He called for tolerance among the populace, especially the youth.

“Let’s tolerate the views and opinions of others because everybody has his or her preferred candidate, there is no way that the entire electorates in the country will vote for one person, so if you are not in the same party with your neighbor, it does not mean you should fight the person.

“Don’t allow someone to influence you with money in this year’s elections, vote for someone you believe in, vote for someone you believe can transform the country for the best, please do not sell your vote because if you do that, it is the same as selling your conscience.” He said

He continued “the electoral officers must be truthful and exercise their duty free and fair while making the entire electoral process transparent to the public. These are things we should all know and understand before we go to the polls.”
