Chief of Anitimfi in the Ahafo-Ano South West, Nana Kwame Abebrese, asserts that the digitalization initiative championed by Dr. Bawumia lacks relevance in the Anitemfi community of the Ashanti Region.
He questioned how the digitization agenda can be realized in the area when students and various institutions lack access to electricity and mobile network connectivity.
Nana Abebrese expressed dismay over the fact that approximately 48 adjoining communities in the area are devoid of proper lighting systems and suffer from inadequate mobile network coverage, thereby impeding the progress and well-being of the populace.
“Digitalization is good but it is irrelevant without access to electricity, telecommunication networks, Internet Service and good roads. Children can not learn and make an impact on digitalization if they don’t have a network and electricity. So basic amenities are essential for nation development.” He said.
The area faces challenges such as poor road infrastructure connecting different communities and a deficient solar lighting system for the lone clinic in the vicinity.
Speaking during a visit by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Abebrese lamented that even after 67 years of Ghana’s independence, certain communities still lack the basic amenities of electricity.
In a solemn plea, the Chief called upon the next NDC administration to prioritize the issues of electricity and road networks in their development agenda.
During his speech, the NDC national chairman urged the electorates to overwhelmingly support Mr. Sadick Abubakar as their next Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
He emphasized the need to transfer the mantle of MP for accelerated development and refutes the claim that the NPP was established solely for the people of Ashanti.
