Barely three days after the commencements of free kidney dialysis treatment under the National Health Insurance, one patient has expressed his appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for the intervention.
In a video shared on Twitter BY an NPP activist General Buhari, the patient said that because of the intervention of the free kidney dialysis policy, they were struggling a lot due to financial challenges.
The free kidney dialysis started on December 1, 2024 following an announcement by Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“From December 1, all kidney dialysis patients will receive free treatment under National Health Insurance.” Bawumia said.
According to the patient, the free kidney dialysis is a great opportunity the government has brought to the country.
“Government in power, we thank them for giving us such an opportunity, sometimes we face challenges when we go for dialysis because of financial problems. Buy God richly bless them for bringing such opportunity into the system.” He said.
The patient who received his treatment at Islamic Hospital also thanked the Health Workers and the Manamagements for implementing the policy as directed by the government.
“And our last appreciation also goes to the hospital, the workers and the management (Islamic Hospital), God richly bless them. We thank them for such an opportunity.” He added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, says GH¢200 million has been released to pay claims of free dialysis for kidney patients under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
“The free dialysis treatment officially starts today, December 1, 2024, in twenty (20) NHIS credentialed facilities across the country. NHIS staff will be in each of these centers to assist kidney dialysis patients. If a hospital mistakenly charges a patient, a full refund will be issued to the patient. Meanwhile, the NHIS has released over 200 million to facilities nationwide for claims payments,” He posted on Facebook.
