Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper, Marcin Bulka has revealed that his former teammate Angel Di Maria has a strong dislike for Manchester United.
According to him, although Ángel Fabián Di María once played for the Red Devils, he doesn’t have any good memories of the team and don’t even watch their games on television let alone talk about the team.
“Di María hates Manchester United so much. He doesn’t have one good memory from the club. Whenever we watched their games on TV, he told us to change the channel. He can’t stand them.” Marcin Bulka said
Ángel Fabián Di María, one of the best right wingers in the world of football, had his worst season as a player during the 2014 / 2015 football season where he played for Manchester united.
On 26 August 2014, Di María signed a five-year deal with Manchester United for a transfer fee of £59.7 million, becoming one of the most expensive transfers of all time and the highest fee ever paid by a British club at the time.
He was given the iconic number 7 shirt at the club which was previously worn by club legends such as George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Di Maria’s dream of leaving a good legacy at the Old Trafford was cut short mainly due to injury and a bad run of form in January 2015 when he was used as a forward by Louis Van Gaal.
El Fideo, played 32 games for Manchester United netting only 4 goals. He was judged by The Daily Telegraph to be the worst signing of the season.
Bulka, who played alongside Di Maria at PSG from 2019 to 2022, believes that Di Maria’s disdain for Manchester United is rooted in his own experiences playing against the English club.
Despite his poor form and dislike for Manchester United, Di Maria has had a successful career, playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world including Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Benfica, he has win a total of 35 titles, including 1 World Cup, 2 Copa Américas, Olympic gold, 1 Champions League (with Real Madrid), 1 European Super Cup, 2 Copas del Rey and 1 Spanish Super Cup; 5 French Cups with PSG, 4 French League Cups, 5 French Super Cups, 5 Ligue 1 titles; 1 Portuguese league, 1 Super Cup and 2 League Cups with Benfica. And finally, a U-20 World Cup and a CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup (Finalissima) winner with La Albiceleste.
