The legendary music producer and entertainment pundit Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma has said National Theatre is not the solution to the Creative Art Industry problems.

He said, National Theatre and other material things are needed but the world is moving to the age of technology so they need digitalization drives that can promote their works.

Speaking at the launch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s 2024 manifesto, the respected music producer and sound engineer stated the Vice President and the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the candidate who has the ideas to digitalize the Creative industry to meet international standard.

“And being in Creative space, I want us to move a step further from the basic declaration that we are going to build theatres and others, yes, those are very good but we are going to the age of technology. And as practitioners of the industry, we have to use technology to enhance our businesses and I think it is Dr. Bawumia who has this idea that is why I came from Accra to join the manifesto launch today.” He said.

He also commended Dr. Bawumia and the economic management team for their efforts despite the economic problems in Ghana.

“I have been in politics since 1969. I attended my first rally as a boy, I have been part of the NPP since 1992, aside from being a music producer and sound engineer. In 2008, together with myself, Mark Okraku Mantey, Nana Ofori Atta and others, we formed the Creative Art for change to compel the ideas of Nana Akufo-Addo. So if he is existing and Dr. Bawumia is supposed to take the mantle, then we need to support him. If you look at the policies that he is putting in place despite all the economic problems and others, he has done so well.” Fredyma indicated.

The Music Producer stressed that the NPP will win the 2024 elections but they need to work hard.

“Is a done deal but we will still work hard. Like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more. We will still work very hard but I know from my experience in politics, and the atmosphere surrounding this year’s elections definitely Dr. Bawumia has an edge. Fortunately, I have my own brother and classmate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh partnering with him.” Fredyma emphasized.

His comment comes after former president John Dramani Mahama who is the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)  promised to rehabilitate the National Theatre in Accra and build a second National Theatre in Kumasi if elected as the president in the December polls.
