The Court of Appeal has acquitted and discharged Minority Leader, Dr. Ato Forson and businessman Richard Jakpa in the ongoing ambulance case.
According to GHOne TV, “A panel of three in a 2-1 majority decision said Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe’s ruling on submission of no case to answer on March 30th, 2023 for the accused to open their defense was in error.” The media house wrote on their X.
The Communications Director of the Opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi also tweeted that “The order for Dr. Ato Forson to open his defence by the trial Court in the ongoing ambulance case has been set aside by the Court of Appeal.”
He said Ato Forson was innocent but the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame and the NPP wanted to prosecute him for their political gains.
Adding that the day of accountability for the real criminals is soon coming.
“In short, Hon. Ato Forson’s submission of no case has been upheld. The Minority Leader was innocent all along. Shame on crooked Godfred Dame, the NPP and their cheap media surrogates. Enemies are not God. The day of accountability for the real criminals is soon coming. December 7 is not far.” Sammy Gyamfi added.
The ambulance case gained more public attention recently after it was alleged that Godfred Dame tried to coerce an accused person in the ongoing trial.
Many political actors, especially the minority in parliament, called for the removal of Godfred Dame as the Minister of Justice.
Sammy Gyamfi earlier, described the alleged conduct of Godfred Dame as unethical and unprofessional.
“Dame’s disgraceful conduct is unethical and unprofessional as it breaches rule 13, 40 and 54 of the LEGAL PROFESSION (PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND ETIQUETTE) RULES 2020 (L.I 2423). More importantly, Dame’s shameful conduct amounts to Fabrication of Evidence and constitutes an offense under sections 213 and 214 of the Criminal and Other Offenses Act, 1960 (ACT 29).” Sammy Gyamfi said.
