The Monarch of Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has commended and encouraged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare to continue his good work.

According to him, Ghanaians now feel the impactation of police administration since the regime of Dr. Akufo Dampare as the IGP.

He said crime and accident cases have reduced drastically because of hard work and dedication executed by the IGP and his officers.

Speaking at Manhyia Palace when the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and his personnel paid a courtesy call on him, Asantehene commended him for putting in place measures to promote police visibility in the country.

“I thank them for their good job especially under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, now everybody can feel the police visibility since the citizens have confidence that the policemen are available to respond when called upon at any situation and all these things are going on because of good policies initiated by the IGP.” the Monarch stated.

“Now the criminal activities in the country have reduced because of your good job, I have seen a lot of police motorbikes, horse which enable effective policing so I will urge you to continue your good job” He said.

Asantehene further praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare for his humility despite his position and appealed to the police personnel to join hands with the IGP in love and humility to be successful in executing their duties.

“When president Akufo-Addo appointed him I told him he can not do the work alone, I also advised him to be humble and I can testify that he has not changed his attitude despite his position. Some people forget their task when given big positions but he (IGP) has not changed so he must continue like that and I appeal to you also to assist him  and work together with love” He admonished.

Otumfuo also urged the police to work hard to ensure peace and stability in this year’s elections. Adding that some people are creating fear and panic, the police should put in place measures so that the citizens will be free from fear and panic ahead of the elections.

“I will urge you to work hard since this year is an election year. We have held many elections in this country but when elections are proaching like this people create fear and panic so you must institute pragmatic measures to ensure peaceful and successful elections in the country because you are serving the nation” the Asantehene appealed.

For his part, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare assured the Asantehene that the police personnel will continue to serve the nation as required by them.

He mentioned that the country has witnessed a great crime reduction and it will continue to decrease.

Meanwhile, The IGP has assured that the Ghana Police Service is working assiduously to rank as the best institution in Ghana and Africa.

Speaking in an interview with Peace Fm monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, IGP stated that they will do everything possible to make Ghana Police Service attractive.

“Among all the institutions in Ghana, we want the Ghana Police Service to rank the first. After that we want to be recognized as the best institution in Africa and even the world. That is why we are engaging stakeholders and the people we are serving so that we will know what we should do, what we should not do and how things can be done”. IGP stated.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare has been commended by many Ghanaians for his decisions to curb crime and criminal-related activities in the country.

Notably, the IGP has banned doomed prophecies by some pastors and prophets that create fear and panic among the citizens.
