Concerned Citizens of Dormaa West accuses MP of Sabotaging DCE appointment

The Concerned Citizens of Dormaa West constituency in the Bono Region have accused their Member of Parliament, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, of attempting to sabotage the appointment of Ali Muhammed as the District Chief Executive (DCE).

According to the group, the MP’s actions are a result of Ali Muhammed’s decision to contest him during the recent parliamentary primaries. They claim that Hon. Oppong Asamoah is deliberately working behind the scenes to block the appointment, despite Ali Muhammed being a competent and qualified candidate for the position.

Speaking at a press conference, the group’s spokesperson, Bashiru Issah, expressed disappointment in the MP’s alleged interference, stating that such actions, if true, go against the principles of democracy and development.

He disclosed that, it is alleged

that some party executives, including the MP, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, recently decided to remove Ali Muhammed from the list of candidates under consideration for the DCE position because he contested the MP during the recent primaries.

According to Bashiru Issah, Ali Muhammed is the most qualified candidate for the vacant DCE position and is deserving of their support.

“If what we are hearing is indeed true, then we plead with those involved to put an end to it. However, if it is not true, we urge the authorities to appoint an individual who can contribute to the development of Dormaa West as the District Chief Executive.

“Ali Muhammed has significantly contributed to the party. He has served as a Polling Station Agent and as a Branch Security Officer for three terms. Additionally, he served as our Election Director for one term and was once our Constituency Youth Organizer.

“Currently, he is an active member of the constituency’s communication team and is serving as the Acting Communication Officer.

“We firmly believe that he stands out among the three candidates being considered for the position. Therefore, anyone attempting to sabotage him should desist immediately.” He said

The Concerned Citizens further urged the government and relevant stakeholders to resist any form of political manipulation and allow the best candidate to serve in the interest of the people. They emphasized that Dormaa West deserves a leader who will focus on development rather than political rivalry.

Bashiru Issah further stated that the Concerned Citizens of Dormaa West are willing to work with whoever is appointed as the DCE, but they will be highly disappointed if Ali Muhammed is denied the appointment due to someone’s selfish interests.

“We, the concerned citizens of Dormaa West, are willing to work with whoever is appointed as the DCE. However, if Ali Muhammed is denied the appointment due to someone’s selfish interests, it will be deeply concerning.” He stated.
