The Chef Association of Ghana has revealed that Chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith is not a registered member of the association.
According to them, they contacted his team to do the needful when they saw him wearing a jacket with their logo during his cook-a-thon but they refused.
“You can call him a chef because he is a professional chef but he is not a registered member of the Chef Association of Ghana. We got to know when he was already started his cook-a-thon because of the publications on online, we took a notice from the fact that he was wearing a jacket that had our logo printed in it so we contacted his team to officially inform us if only he wants to actually go with our logo then he should do the needful by registering with the Chef Association of Ghana.” Peter Agborvi, General Secretary, Chefs Association of Ghana said in an interview with GhOne monitored by Elvisanokyenews,com.
“After his cook-a-than we didn’t hear from him again till yesterday when we saw his press conference coming out. We even tried to find out what was going on but unfortunately we did not hear from him……. I am the National Secretary, I do all the registrations but I don’t have any details about Chef Smith on my data.” He said.
Reacting to this fake certificate, Peter Agborvi said it is unfortunate and heartbreaking.
“Unfortunately because Chef Smith as an individual, you qualify to be a Chef, we give you that respect. We have a lot of Chefs in Ghana but it is every Chef who is registered with our association but we give every chef that respect, so it was heartbreaking, it was unfortunate that we saw a colleague chef with this certificate. Up to now we have not been able to speak with him so we don’t know what actually happened.” He stated.
Guinness World Records has declared Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith certificate, as fake.
Chef Smith announced at a press conference at the La Palm Beach Hotel on Tuesday, June 2, 2024 claimed that he was the current record holder of the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
But GWR said it is not true.
