An independent parliamentary hopeful for Nkoranza North, Rev. Charles Owusu, has facilitated a 10-day training to equip the youth with skills in ICT.
The training which was carried out by the Ghana Digital Center through the initiative of Rev. Charles Owusu, was aimed at creating a conducive environment for the youth were they will be equipped with the necessary skills to cope the growing digital economy.
The 10-day free training which saw some fifty (50) youth of which most of them were people leaving with disability in the Nkoranza North district benefiting from the program as each of the 50 participants got the opportunity to be equipped some basic skills in Information and Communication Technology for their personal development.
Rev. Charles Owusu, revealed that, the training was one of its kind and he is much impressed with how the beneficiaries participated through the program.
“We wanted to train over five hundred (500) youth but the Ghana Digital Center, told us that they can only train 50 people for the time being, so that is why we trained only 50 people.”
“I have very pleased with the commitment from the beneficiaries, they really should commitment throughout the program, this program is one of its kind and I’m happy with the way the youth participated during the training”. He said
According to the beneficiaries, the training has prepared them for the job market as they believe with the requisite ICT skills, they can easily job in the country.
“This program has helped us a lot because knowledge in ICT is what most employers want from their employees and with these skills, we can easily get work to do” a beneficiary told our reporter.
Another said, “we have learned Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and can help us a lot, we have also learned how to write letters too.”
