Former Asante Kotoko defender, Richard Osei Agyemang, has officially signed a permanent deal for India’s Premier League side Calicut FC.
The former Ashanti Gold talented defender joins the team as a free agent, bringing his wealth of experience and skill to the Calicut FC squad.
Richard Osei Agyemang, a seasoned defender, has had a successful career in Ghana’s Premier League with Asante Kotoko where he joined from Berekum Chelsea in 2016. He moved to Ashanti Gold from 2018 to 2023.
The signing of Richard Osei Agyemang is a strategic move by Calicut FC to strengthen their defense and improve their chances of success in the Premier League. The team’s management believes that his experience and talent will be invaluable in helping the team achieve its goals.
Richard Osei Agyemang’s move to Calicut FC will be his second stint in the India Premier League. He has previously played for Real Kashmir where he scored 4 goals in 10 league matches.
Calicut Football Club will compete in the Super League Kerala (SLK) with 25 players, including 12 from Kerala, six overseas, and seven players from other states.
According to Calicut FC owner V K Matthews, they want to build a professional team for Kozhikode.
He said several Keralites represented India in the past so there is the need for them to work hard to regain their glory.
Last month, Calicut FC named 58-year-old Ian Andrew Gillan as the head coach of the team.
The Super League Kerala will start in September with 6 teams from Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram, Thrissur Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
