The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has unveiled the nominees for the 2024 African Player Award, much to the excitement of football fans across the continent.

This prestigious award recognizes and honors the outstanding performances of African players in the football world. The nominees for this year’s award have been carefully selected based on their exceptional skills, consistency, and contributions to their respective clubs and national teams.

The list of nominees includes some of the most talented and accomplished players in African football. These individuals have consistently demonstrated their prowess on the field, showcasing their technical abilities, physical attributes, and leadership qualities. The nominees are:

1. Amine Gouiri  – Algeria / Rennes

2. Edmond Tapsoba – Burkina Faso / Bayer Leverkusen

3. Simon Adingra – Cote d’Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion

4. Chancel Mbemba -DR Congo / Olympique de Marseille

5.Serhou Guirassy  – Guinea / Borussia Dortmund

6. Achraf Hakimi – Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain

7.  Soufiane Rahimi – Morocco / Al Ain

8. Ademola Lookman – Nigeria / Atalanta

9. William Troost-Ekong- Nigeria / Al Kholood

10. Ronwen Williams – South Africa / MamelodiSundowns

South Africa’s goalkeeper, Ronwen Hayden Williams, has been nominated in all 3 categories: Player of the Year, CAF Goalkeeper of the Year and CAF Interclub player of the Year.

Ghana and West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has been unexpectedly left off the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award list. Aside Kudus, the CAF list also excluded reigning champion Victor Osimhen, as well as his compatriot Victor Boniface, who enjoyed an excellent season with Bayer Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga title.

The CAF Awards 2024 cover the period between January 2024 and October 2024.

The winner of the 2024 African Player Award will be announced on 16 December 2024  in Marrakech, Morocco.
